A yearlong study at Florida State University found that a special combination of calcium and collagen, called KoAct, is even more effective than calcium plus vitamin D for women’s bone health. The study, published in the Journal of Medicinal Food, tested the supplements on 39 women. Researchers found that during 12 months, those taking calcium and vitamin D had a 3.73 percent decrease in bone mineral density, but among those taking KoAct, the decrease was only 1.23 percent. KoAct is an ingredient in Life Extension Bone Strength Formula and other supplements.
