A study of 71 people with type 2 diabetes found that chromium significantly improves both short- and long-term levels of blood sugar. Participants in the study, which was published in the Journal of Trace Elements inMedicine and Biology, all followed medical dietary recommendations and also took either a placebo or 600 mcg daily of chromium picolinate for four months. Compared to placebo, chromium improved fasting and after-meal blood sugar two to three times as much, and longer-term levels, measured with A1C tests, nearly twice as much.
