The ability to juggle multiple mental tasks, remember, and solve problems typically declines with age, but it doesn’t have to. Looking at 128 people between the ages of 59 and 80, a study at the University of Illinois found that those who were the most aerobically fit preserved such abilities to the greatest extent. The research, published in the journal Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience, underscores the value of regular, heart-pumping exercise.
