A study of children with ADHD, between the ages of 6 and 15, found that Korean red ginseng can deliver significant improvement. In the study, published in the Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology, researchers tested 1 gram of the supplement, twice daily, against a placebo. After 8 weeks, standard tests that measure hyperactivity showed that kids who took ginseng had improved from an average score of 3.09 to 1.76, while those taking a placebo changed very little, from 3.81 to 3.03. An earlier study found that American ginseng, in combination with ginkgo, also improved ADHD among children between the ages of 3 and 17.
