Supplementing with glutathione, an antioxidant also made by our bodies, enhances the ability of muscles to use oxygen and reduces fatigue during exercise, according to Japanese research published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. In the study, 8 healthy men took either 1 gram of glutathione daily or a placebo for two weeks, and exercised on a stationary bike for an hour each day. Those taking glutathione had less build-up of lactate in muscles, and experienced less muscle fatigue.
