Scientists at Tufts and Harvard Universities analyzed studies of more than 2,500 children and found that getting enough omega-3 fatty acids significantly improves development of brain and motor skills in babies and children. They concluded that it’s important for pregnant women and young children to get enough of these nutrients, found in fish oil and vegetarian supplements made from algae. In addition to capsules, omega-3 supplements are available as liquid fish oil, smoothie-style products, and chewable gummies formulated for all ages.
