Tinnitus, or ringing in the ears, can be a debilitating problem, but an Italian study found that Pycnogenol, a special extract of French maritime pine bark, can bring relief. The supplement also relieved dizziness and intermittent hearing loss that are symptoms of Meniere’s disease. The study, which was published in the peer-reviewed Italian journal Minerva Medica, tested 150 mg daily of Pycnogenol (in combination with the usual medical treatment) against a placebo among 107 people suffering from these conditions. After 6 months, 87 percent of those taking Pycnogenol experienced complete relief of symptoms, compared to only one-third of those taking a placebo.
