Janet Hunter

“When Kat did my makeup, I slept in it so my husband could see it on me at the airport,” says Hunter.
Jen Cillo
In addition to makeup, Cillo also had her hair done using Aubrey Organics Natural Missst Herbal Hairspray.
As a former celebrity makeup artist, I was thrilled to give natural makeup overhauls to two participants in our Redo YOU! Biggest Gainers contest at my Total Transformation program near Lake Lure, NC. The first was Janet Hunter, the winner of our Redo YOU! Biggest Gainers contest. If you missed Hunter’s incredible story in the June issue, visit betternutrition.com. The second woman to undergo a natural makeover was Jen Cillo, who tied for second place in our contest. I used celebrity makeup artist techniques-along with some of my favorite natural cosmetics-on Janet and Jen. Here are some steps to doing your own natural makeover:
THAT LIT-FROM-WITHIN GLOW: I always use Glow Oil (with tamanu and emu oils) by Jeannie Amash. It actually rebuilds the fat barrier in the skin. Visit theglowseries.com to learn more.
SHEER NATURAL FOUNDATION: I used Lavera Liquid Foundation in Fair #1 on both Hunter and Cillo. It has a beautiful sheer, golden shade. Always make sure your foundation matches your neck.
A KISS OF SUN: Looking for a natural bronzer? I just discovered and love Zuii Organic’s Certified Organic Flora Foundation in Pecan, which I used on both women.
CHEERY CHEEKS: I used MyChelle Dermaceuticals Blush Stick in Peaches on Hunter and Dr. Hauschka Rouge Powder 1 in Warm Terracotta on Cillo. Peachy colors tend to look good on most people.
LIFT YOUR EYES: For Hunter, I used Mineral Fusion’s Eyeshadow Trio in Intensity. For Cillo, I used Ecco Bella Botanicals’ Flowercolor Eyeshadow in Smoky Mauve.
NON-SPIDERY LASHES: For mascara that doesn’t clump or run, try No-Miss’ All-Natural Mascara in Black. I used it on both women. It’s made with herbal extracts.
LIP DEFINITION: I used Jane Iredale Lip Pencil in Nutmeg on Hunter. For Cillo, I used Logona Lipstick Pencil in Chestnut. I also used Aubrey Organics Natural Lips in Mocha Pearl on both women-I love the deep, sugary brown/red tone of this lip gloss.
NON-TOXIC NAILS: The hip nail look right now is sheer shades with an almost orangish beige shade. My favorite natural shade is #27 Nail Polish from Suncoat.

Expert Tip:
Enhance your natural collagen production for younger-looking skin. “Our Night Face Cream contains a unique multipeptide complex that works to enhance your skin’s natural collagen production,” say Emerita President Liza Dolezal. Gotu kola is also added to promote firmness and skin elasticity.
