Sensoril, a special extract of ashwagandha roots and leaves, can improve the health of arteries in people with diabetes, according to a study published in the International Journal of Ayurveda and Pharma Research. Scientists compared the effect of a placebo with 250 mg and 500 mg daily of Sensoril among 60 diabetics who were also taking metformin. After 12 weeks, both doses of the supplement improved the health of blood-vessel linings, damage to which leads to diabetes complications and increases risk for heart disease. Sensoril is available in many ashwagandha supplements.
