This delicious fuel to jump-start a chilly morning combines the antioxidant benefits of raspberries with potassium-rich banana and potent Chinese five spice.
11/3 cups water
1/2 cup five-minute Irish oatmeal (try McCann's)
1/2 tsp. Chinese five spice
1 small ripe banana, coarsely mashed
Handful fresh raspberries
1 Tbs. Grade B maple syrup
- Bring water to boil in small saucepan. Add oatmeal and five spice, stir well, and reduce heat to simmer. Cook 3-5 minutes, stirring often, until creamy but not set.
- Combine banana, raspberries, and syrup in small bowl. Stir into cooked oatmeal. Divide between two bowls and serve.
