For kids, swimming lessons are fun, good exercise, and potentially life-saving. Knowing how to swim reduces the risk of childhood drowning by 88 percent, according to data compiled by the USA Swimming Foundation, but if parents can’t swim, there’s only a 13 percent chance that the child will learn. To help solve the problem, the foundation works with programs around the country to make swimming lessons accessible to kids and parents.
