Females who took a supplement with antioxidants and omega-3 and omega-6 fats reported improvements in their hair compared to a control group, according to a study published online in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. More than 89 percent of participants noticed less hair loss after taking the supplement for six months. (Fish oils, blackcurrant seed oil, lycopene, and vitamins C and E were the key ingredients.) The women also experienced growth in hair diameter and density. Subjects were between the ages of 18 and 65, and all had early signs of female pattern hair loss.
