Aged Garlic Extract Lowers Heart Disease Risk

Taking 1,000 mg of Aged Garlic Extract (Kyolic) daily slows down buildup of calcium in coronary arteries, and lowers blood pressure in people at risk for heart disease, according to a study of 161 people at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, Calif. Results of the one-year study were presented at a scientific conference of the American College of Cardiology. "These new findings provide cardiologists and internists with an additional tool for patients who are at a high risk of cardiovascular disease," said study co-author Matthew Budoff, MD, adding: "It also gives patients with mild to moderate cardiovascular disease a proactive way to reduce those risk factors."
